Colin Arthur comes to TerrorMolins to personally show us some of his favorite masks and props. Also to tell us anecdotes about the films in which he has worked. The exhibition of his works can be seen exclusively during his talk, so it will be a unique and very special event.
Undisputed master of special effects for cinema, disciple of the mythical Stuart Freeborn (creator of the Star Wars creatures) and assistant in the last stage of the master of masters Ray Harryhausen, he stood out in the profession making ape masks in "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick.
His impressive filmography includes titles as relevant to the fantasy and/or horror genre as Sinbad's Fantastic Voyage (Gordon Hessler, 1973), Alien: The Eighth Passenger (Ridley Scott, 1979), The Shining (Stanley Kubrick, 1980), Fury of Titans (Desmond Davis, 1981), Conan the Barbarian (John Milius, 1982) or The Neverending Story (Wolfgang Petersen, 1984), with forays into productions by Spanish directors such as Al filo del hacha (Jose Ramón Larraz, 1988) or La crack (Juan Piquer Simon, 1990), among others. Among many other outstanding titles, already in other genres, we point out these three: Ryan's Daughter (David Lean, 1977), The Iron Cross (Sam Peckinpah, 1977) and Empire of the Sun (Steven Spielberg, 1987).
The talk will be conducted by Jordi Ribera, from Molina, a film professional since 1992 in the art department, working as a shooting and editing props, props master, councilor, set construction and setting, art direction, FX and fictitious. His career includes feature films and short films, documentaries, series, video clips and advertising.
